I bought about $30 worth of new (read: used) books for my classroom on Tuesday and I always place the newbies in a bin on the front table after I introduce them to my class.  Today, I mentioned to my class that I bought a Rocks & Minerals book to go with our science unit.  The book was illustrated similarly to a graphic novel and was filled with interesting facts about what seemed like every mineral known to man.  A student of mine came in today and said to me, “We went to two book stores and couldn’t find it anywhere! Finally, my mom let me order it online.  I had a little money so I bought it myself.”
