TDD Question: How do you challenge your honors students? How do you differentiate?

novicephoenix:

TEACHER DARE DAY QUESTION:

I believe that one my strengths is to scaffold lessons for struggling readers or writers, however, I do find it to be challenging to alter my lesson in order to challenge my honors students. How do you do it?

I too find this very difficult.  During our small group time I’m attempting to add in enrichment for these students.  I’ve been looking at their interests and tying them into our social studies and science topics. (Which admittedly we don’t get to enough as we should.)  This is the time that I allow them to work on high leveled projects.  Our school is attempting to focus on self management of learning. This allows me to put the students in charge of monitoring their progress and managing their work. It also gives them a sense of leadership and a freedom that allows their creative and skilled brains to flourish. Now, I just need to create some sort of document that allows that to record what they’ve accomplished on their own.
